Welcome to my website

"Nature is the most important teacher. The book of nature enlightens us and guides us in our practice."

A.F. L'Hotte, 1895

"Equestrian art is difficult, you cannot learn it on your own - Without a teacher who helps them over the wall everybody only gets stuck."

O.V. Montenton, 1877

There are no quick fixes for either horse or rider to become a well trained combination.

By the laws of nature alone we are further apart than we realise. The balance that we can achieve and maintain on our own two legs takes many months to master, where as a horse is able to walk and run within a couple of hours of its life. This is where we must first take our knowledge from.

The movement and natural balance of the horse is often expressed by the horse it's self with dignity, pride and beauty. It is only when ridden that the horse can become unbalalnced and cumbersome. This is why we must strive to become the most understanding and knowledgeable of equestrians.

A good trainer of horses and riders must first and foremost be a student. As both a trainer and student you should have the ability to be open minded and humble enough to admit, maybe you didn't know as much as you first thought. You must be willing to listen, to both those around you and your horse, and have the patience to develop and build upon the basic principles.

Through patient practice and study we can all achieve a better balance and harmony with our horses.

Profile

Josephine Lee started riding over 20 years ago and in the last 12 years started training and teaching many horse and rider combinations.

She is an informative teacher and has a talent for helping riders to achieve their goals, with an understanding and encouraging approach.

She creates a relaxed atmosphere and with her basic principle geared towards a classical way of riding, she helps to develop a sympathic, logical and balanced way to ride.

Josephine has trained up to advanced level dressage and had a successful local competition career with her advanced horse Buccaneer. Sadly he died in January 2003, after a short illness and six months later Josephine found herself starting again with Fenja, a 7 year old German bred mare, who had only been under saddle for six weeks.

She has many years of experience benefiting from training with and working for some top international riders and trainers. She currently trains with Rob Lumb.

She is constantly striving to improve and expand upon her skills and takes great pleasure out of helping people achieve their goals.
